Medical Toxicology
A medical toxicologist focuses on the diagnosis, management, and prevention of poisoning and other adverse health effects due to medications, occupational and environmental toxins, and biological agents.
Medical Toxicology is an approved subspecialty by the American Board of Medical Specialties. A medical toxicologist is a physician certified through one of three pathways: emergency medicine, pediatrics, or preventive medicine.
Public Health and General Preventive Medicine is an approved specialty by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Physicians practicing public health and preventive medicine receive advanced training in epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, human health behaviors, and the organization of health care systems.
